Are you a sheep or are you a wolf? That is to say do you put your trust in the mainstream media narrative or do you like to ask a few questions and do a bit of your own research to get to the truth of the matter?
Should you just believe what they taught you at school or are teaching you at school and university? Should you just believe what your parents told you or are telling you? Should you just believe what you see on TV and in Hollywood movies? Should you just believe what you see and read on your favourite social media platform? Or should you do a bit of fact checking? And if you like to do a bit of fact checking how do you know with a fair degree of certainty that you have found the truth? Challenging questions, heh?
So if I could give you a set of linguistic tools to help you challenge everything for the truth, would you be interested in that? Are you willing to take the risk and uncover the truth on any topic that interests you? And maybe at this point I need to define truth for some of you. By truth I mean facts not relative truth, not subjectivity, not feelings – but just good old sensory based facts. Now hopefully I have stimulated your curiosity but remember the proverb, ‘curiosity killed the cat’. So take care because once your curiosity is stimulated there is no going back.
So how do we do this? How do we uncover the truth? We do it by using some of the tools given to us by the NLP Communication Model. What I did was to combine some of the tools into a format which I call the NLP Peace Mapping Model.
I did this because I wanted a way to prevent myself from hooking into a conversation and getting into an argument. I wanted a way to keep myself in a state of curiosity and fascination such that there was always another question to ask. When you do this it delays you from forming a judgement – which is a very good idea sometimes. So let’s get into this.
Some years ago I watched an episode of Q&A on the ABC in Australia and I was fascinated not by the quality of the conversation but by the lack of communication. A member of the audience asked a specific question. One of the panel members was given a few minutes to answer. Typically the panel member chunked up to a higher level of abstraction and made broad sweeping statements. Even though the question was not answered with any degree of clarity, what I found fascinating was that the audience clapped with enthusiasm. If that was genuine applause then the only explanation can be that they were all in a trance – they were all hallucinating. So the purpose of the NLP Peace Mapping Model is to show you how to come out of trance and how to bring others out of trance.
One of the ways that we do that is by using the NLP Meta Model. The Meta Model is a linguistic tool that gives you a framework that prompts you to ask questions that help you to gather high quality information. That is to gain a clearer understanding of what the other person has said and means by their communication.
My dream is for the NLP Meta Model to be taught in every school in every country around the world. It will never happen of course. What government would want to educate their children in how to challenge their dogma?
But what if you had language skills to hold politicians and bureaucrats accountable? What if politicians could learn to communicate with greater clarity? Do you think that might reduce conflict and promote greater harmony? What if you, the individual, could learn to decipher what you see on television and what you read in print? What if you could express yourself more clearly? Do you think that would help you get a better job, and have better relationships with employers, co-workers, employees, friends, family and lovers? If you could express yourself more clearly do you think that might help you to build a better world for yourself and others? So where do you start?
A good place to start is with the NLP Peace Mapping Model which gives you a way to map out a conversation, get on the same page and track the conversation such that all those involved may gain a greater understanding in why people think and act the way that they do.
The NLP Peace Mapping course is for people who are willing to take responsibility for playing their part in creating a better world. You could live your life as a lie – deny the truth and just believe what the authorities tell you –or you could face up to life with an open mind – with a sense of curiosity, fascination and playfulness – always finding another stone to be turned over – always seeing another bend in the road that you need to explore. Life should be a never ending journey where there is always something more to learn.
The NLP Peace Mapping course is for seekers of truth – and for those who should be seeking truth and facts – such as journalists, talk show hosts, celebrities, youtubers, politicians and people from both sides of the political spectrum, professors, scientists, teachers, health care practitioners, coaches, business people, men, women and children from every country in the world.
In the middle ages the Europeans believed that the Sun revolved around the Earth - it was religious doctrine and few people dared to question the doctrine. But the downside of belief is that it stops you from asking questions and may retard your spiritual, emotional and cognitive development and consequently limit what you can achieve in the world. In the NLP Peace Mapping course you will learn:
- How to develop critical thinking skills to outsmart the experts.
- How to challenge everything for the truth and have a lot of fun in the process.
- How to be an investigative journalist and discover the facts.
- Rather than blindly accepting what you read and see on the Internet you will learn how to develop a questioning mind such that you delay forming a judgement.
- The benefits of challenging everything for the truth are that you throw off the sheep’s clothing given to you by society and you become an individual – you become an inspiration for others and you discover peace of mind.
- In the discussion groups you will have the opportunity to network with other students and participate in intelligent discussions.
You listen to what people say and you look at what you see written on the Internet. You take a simple statement like, “The Earth is flat”, and rather than agreeing or disagreeing you have fun examining the statement and mapping it out to gather high quality information. It teaches you not to accept blanket statements given to you by the mainstream media, the experts, the authorities, parents and teachers – but instead to listen with an open mind, gathering information by asking questions and as such delaying judgement – because invariably there is always something more to be learned. The interesting thing is that in using the NLP Peace Mapping Model you will uncover truths and facts that you would never have dreamed of. In this way you can take steps to build a much more harmonious and equitable world.
- Rather than arguing with people, what-if you could ask thought provoking questions that help them to become a better version of themselves?
- What if you could ask questions of people in your community such that you are able to help facilitate positive change and create harmony amongst different groups?
- What if you could create a better world by asking questions rather than demanding that others change – would you be interested?
