Have you ever had to deal with a cough that kept you awake at night? Rather than buy a pharmaceutical drug to stop the coughing would you like to learn a simple self hypnotic procedure that you could use to fix a cough? It might not work on all coughs but at least give it a go – you could be pleasantly surprised.
We use a very shortened version of Dave Elman’s trance induction. It goes like this.
Relax the muscles around the eyes, relax the muscles around the eyes, relax the muscles around the eyes – and take the relaxation from around the eyes and put it into the throat.
That is basically it. Just keep on repeating that a dozen times. When you instruct your unconscious mind to relax the muscles around the eyes you should also put your awareness on the eyes. When you instruct your unconscious mind to put the relaxation into the throat you should also focus in and put your awareness on the part of the throat that is triggering the cough.
So once again the script is, relax the muscles around the eyes, relax the muscles around the eyes, relax the muscles around the eyes – and take the relaxation from around the eyes and put it into the throat.
