Request a Link Guidelines
1. We exchange links with other sites so that both of our sites benefit from higher listings in the search engines. It is to our mutual benefit. To that end we need to follow some guidelines.
2. The linked websites need to share some similarity in theme and content.
3. Your website should be a real website and not a directory created for the sole purpose of exchanging links.
4. The description should be at least ten lines long so as to provide some content (words) for the search engines to index. Ideally it should be around 750 words. You provide content for the other site and you ensure that your keyword phrases are included on that page.
Nowadays you can use ChatGPT to write the 750 word webpage. For example the following prompt is what I used.
"I want a professionally written 750 word article that I can post onto a webpage. The article should summarise the content on www.abbeagle.com. The focus should be on NLP Coaching, hypotherapy and meditation. Specify each of the online courses. Make a note of some of the excellent reviews from satisfied clientele. Information about this page https://www.abbyeagle.com/nlp-coaching-resources/ needs to go at the top of the article."
5. Multiple links are ideal. Why go to all the effort and expense to get one link when you could be getting 3 or 4 links from the same website? The best practice is to use anchor text in the description that links to different pages on your website. Multiple links should not all point to your home page. You want them pointing to other pages as well. But in order to get 3 or 4 links you need to write an 800-1000 word article. This is about a one page Word document in 12pt text.
6. And remember that this is an exchange so both players in this business arrangement need to provide the same quality links as the other. And your link pages need to be linked from the menu on your home page or in the footer- not buried somewhere in the site.
