Be The Action Hero

The artwork comes in a range of sizes and frames to be displayed on your walls. It can also be printed on removable vinyl wallpaper for your home or office. The vinyl can be stuck on any smooth surface - refridgerators, walls, doors, windows, vehicles, laptops, etc. I can also print on mugs and garments such as t-shirts. This authentic piece of fine art was created through an intensive process of pencil, fountain pen, photography and a sophisticated rendering process using the tools in Photoshop.

Title: Be The Action Hero

About This Artwork: I have always enjoyed good action films such as the Jason Bourne trilogy. I find that I naturally identify with the hero character, the intrigue, the strategising, the perseverance, determination and the quick call to action - and wish that I could be like this in my everyday life. So as a reminder to myself to access and mobilise the attributes of the archetypal hero that lie deep within me (and within you) I set myself the task to play act this role.

So I drove to the closest industrial area where I saw a guy filling his massive truck with fuel and asked for permission to take a photograph of the truck. Then as I drove around the industrial area I saw what looked like some kind of junk yard out of an apocalyptic film. I went inside and requested permission to take some photographs. Then I needed some clouds to provide atmosphere for the picture. At the time I was living in a unit which faced out onto Burleigh Lake on the Gold Coast. Around sunset I was able to get some amazing photographs of stormy type clouds. These elements would provide the backdrop for the picture but then I needed to focus in on the action hero.

In an effort to create a badass look  I went online and bought a bandanna and some makeup like that worn by the Navy Seals. Then I hunted around for a pair of sunglasses and eventually found a pair at a hardware store. And then I needed a handgun – I live in Australia and the best that I could do was to buy a replica pistol online – a bit small but it did the job.

Then I drew the design for the border and photoshopped the image – printed it out and put it on a bookshelf as a reminder to myself everyday to be the action hero of my own life. My wish is that this print will also inspire you to focus in on accessing and mobilising your inner and outer resources – learning all you can about your personality type which is your genius – getting clear on your passions, interests  and values – and also giving yourself permission to spend time on your passions and interests – and then most importantly either building or putting yourself into an environment in which you flourish such that day by day you steadily move towards the next best version of yourself.
