What You Can Expect at an NLP SessionRead what others say about Abby Eagle and NLPWhen you arrive for your NLP session I like to help you feel comfortable and at home. Generally I will spend 15 minutes getting some information about the problem state before moving onto defining what your desired outcomes are. In some cases we may spend more time on gathering a personal history but in most cases 15 minutes per session is adequate. Once we have identified the problem state and the desired outcome you will then learn some NLP techniques which we progressively build upon. It is a little like having training wheels for for the mind. Once you have learned how to do certain NLP techniques then you will find that you can make changes quite rapidly. Generally we will start with clearing out any negative emotions that may prevent you from achieving your desired outcome. If appropriate I may have you take a personality test, and I may elicit your values. Depending on your situation we may spend a number of sessions on clearing out the effect of negative emotions before working specifically on achieving the desired outcome. Each person is unique. So for example in the context of increasing your income, if you are already in a situation where you could earn a lot of money but something is just blocking you, then you may find that you can increase your income quite considerably in a short period of time, but if you need to actually take steps to build a business or study for a qualification then obviously it will take much longer to increase your income, if that is your goal. So there will always be some situations where you may achieve your desired outcomes rapidly and other outcomes may take longer to achieve. NLP is thorough. With NLP we can check to see if you are getting the desired results, while in the consultation room. For example when you release a negative emotion using NLP techniques the emotion should clear from the entire gestalt. That is the entire history of you having had a negative emotion should clear, such that when you try and find the emotion in a memory you won't be able to find it. And you should be able to check that memory 2 years after the session and still find that the memories are clear of that emotion. I say should, because there are always the exceptions where the problem emotion may regenerate itself because it was linked to something else. In that case we take that as feedback and use other techniques to resolve the problem. When you change, your memories change. You know that you have a problem because you have a memory of the problem and because you may be reminded of that problem at certain times. But when the healing is complete, as it often is with NLP, then it is highly unlikely that you will think of that problem again. And in many cases the actual content of the memories change. So if in a memory you saw yourself avoiding answering the phone for example, after the NLP intervention you may now have a memory where you see yourself running to answer the phone. In some cases the client will deny that they ever had the problem. There is a videotaped case of Richard Bandler where a smoker denied having smoked at all, and when the video was replayed he stated that it was not him. The ability to experience profound change within a matter of minutes causes some problems for NLP Master Practitioners, in that the client may not think that anything has happened and may terminate the therapy. It is often only the feedback of friends and family that convinces the client that they had a problem which has now healed... So I would encourage you, that if during the first consultation you should agree to attend a series of consultations that you should complete that series to receive the full benefit. Another point is that as you move through life you will have new experiences that may give you a new history of negative emotions, and that these negative emotions may prevent you from enjoying life to one hundred percent. If you really want to squeeze the juice from life then I encourage you to have a NLP consultation once every 3 months. In the same way that a motor vehicle requires regular maintenance then you, as a human being, also require regular maintenance, and what better way to do that than with NLP? Characteristics
